Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to make my sign?
Some custom orders are made and dispatched within 1 - 2 weeks.
Bespoke commissions may take a little longer — lead times should be seen on the item description.
I do normally have a stock of utility sign plaques eg Private, Lavatory, Beware of the Dog
Can I request a custom size, font or finish ?
Yes. Most product listings offer a range of sizes, font styles (including Garamond, Mackintosh and Mission styles) and surface finishes (polished, hammered, brushed or green patinated). If you need something outside those options, contact me directly with your requirements.
Will copper oxidise outdoors ?
Copper naturally weathers over time, developing a warm patina.
All polished surfaces are coated with a marine lacquer to protect the finish. If you prefer a living patina, I can leave signs un-lacquered on request.
How do I fix my 3D floating characters to the wall ?
Each order includes a paper fixing template to mark your drill positions, plus the required fixings - screws, wall plugs and copper collars to cover the nylon standoffs. There is also a sign tape option (no standoffs) up to the 4"/100mm size.
How do I fix my plaques to the wall ?
There are 3x types of plaques available
Pressed plaque from sheet - with choice of brass screws or copper rosehead nails for timber
Pressed plaque from sheet glued to painted plywood backboard with woodscrew, wall plugs and copper tab fittings
Pressed plaque from sheet glued to painted plywood backboard and limed oak frame with woodscrew, wall plugs and copper tab fittings
Fitting notes are included with some orders when necessary.
Do you ship to the USA?
Yes — and signage products are zero-tariff imports to the USA, meaning no customs duty applies on your order. Shipping typically takes 5–10 days via Royal Mail tracked international service.
Can I order a matching set of name and number plaques?
Absolutely. Many customers order a house name plaque and a matching number set in the same finish and font. Just add both to your cart, or contact me to discuss a coordinated commission.
Why do i consider my work eco responsible ?
The materials I use are chosen with the environmental footprint in mind so the oak is from virgin offcuts from my local sawmill actually situated in the oak woods.
The metals are from a local metal recyclers that are cleaned and processed - the green patinated copper is unique to UK. The resin cladding board i use for the 3D floating signage is from virgin offcut material with a 50 year outdoor rating
